MALANG – SMP Islam Al Azhar 56 Malang successfully held a spectacular collaboration event on Saturday, June 20, 2026. This grand event combined the Grade 9 Akhirussanah Ceremony and the Students’ Showcase 2026. Around twenty VIP guests from the Al Azhar Foundation and school board attended the celebration. Parents, teachers, and students also gathered at Savana Hotel Malang to enjoy the program.
The event served as a graduation ceremony for Grade 9 students. Meanwhile, younger students from Grades 7 and 8 found a platform to showcase their talents. They displayed great creativity and character development through an impressive theatrical performance. Their original play was entitled “Compass of Harmony.”
The performance told an adventurous story about three ordinary students. They accidentally broke an antique compass, causing its fragments to scatter worldwide. To restore the compass, they embarked on a challenging journey to collect eight hidden fragments. Along the way, they learned valuable lessons about culture, unity, courage, and cooperation. They also developed a deep respect for global diversity.
The exciting adventure took the audience through several beautiful locations. They traveled to Yogyakarta, Jakarta, Sulawesi, Kalimantan, France, England, and Türkiye. Finally, the long journey reached its peaceful conclusion back in Yogyakarta.
Each unique destination featured a cultural performance presented by Grades 7 and 8. In Jakarta, the audience enjoyed traditional poetry recitations and energetic Betawi Silat demonstrations. The Sulawesi segment showcased a powerful, high-energy percussion performance. Kalimantan then highlighted the vocal skills of students through an impressive acappella.
The international journey continued with a visit to France. Confident students presented a stylish fashion catwalk performance with great creativity. In England, a dramatic Sherlock Holmes adaptation entertained the audience with mystery and humor. Furthermore, the Türkiye segment presented an epic Ottoman battle scene about sacrifice, compassion, and unity. This spectacular international journey was closed with a graceful traditional dance from Java island.
True harmony is achieved through understanding cultural differences and working together toward a common goal.
The successful event concluded with a heartwarming grand finale on stage. All performers from Grades 7 and 8 joined the graduating Grade 9 students. They sang together, creating a memorable moment of complete unity and joyful celebration. The final performance received enthusiastic, loud applause from the proud audience.
School representatives expressed deep appreciation for the hard work of students, teachers, and parents. The showcase successfully reflected the school’s strong commitment to nurturing student creativity and character. This inspiring celebration will undoubtedly remain a cherished memory for everyone who attended.
